The legendary singer won’t have to travel too far from her Las Vegas residency at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace to pick up the honor and perform at the T-Mobile Arena just down the Las Vegas Strip. Past winners of the ICON lifetime-achievement award include Jennifer Lopez in 2014, Prince in 2013, Stevie Wonder in 2012 and Neil Diamond in 2011.
“Celine Dion has a huge repertoire of monster hits and she personally chose to perform ‘The Show Must Go On’ as her ICON performance on the Billboard Music Awards,” said Mark Bracco, the show’s executive producer. “I think at this moment in her life, the song has many meanings and it’s an amazing choice.”
Over her three-decade singing career, Dion has had 17 albums on the Billboard 200chart — including 12 top 10s and four No. 1s — selling almost 250 million albums. She holds the record for most No. 1s on the Adult Contemporary chart for a woman with 11 chart-topping songs. She has also earned five Grammy Awards and already has six Billboard Music Awards.
